Qatar
State of Qatar in the Middle East located on the Arabian Peninsula. The state is an emirate with about 850 000 inhabitants (2010). Qatar is on a flat and dry peninsula in the Persian Gulf, bordering Saudi Arabia. The nation's capital, Doha.

Approx. 80% of the population consists of foreign workers. In July 2008, it was estimated by 60-70% of the workers came from India and the Philippines, as well as other poor nations in Asia. The remaining workers are from Europe and the USA.

Qatar is a small but beautiful country in the Persian Gulf which is widely known for its oil wealth. Most people go there on a short shopping break (often as transit stay with Qatar airways), but the country has much more to offer: beautiful beaches, desert, interesting history and friendly culture. Also, Qatar is home to the television channel Al-Jazeera.

It's easy to be a tourist in Qatar, but during the summer months can be quite extreme heat (35 degrees and 90 percent humidity). Arabic is the public language, but English is very widely used.

Qatar is to host World Cup (football) 2022.
