Quebec
Quebec is the second oldest European settlement in North America still in use by St. Augustine in Florida. It was founded by Samuel de Champlain in 1608 where there was a native settlement called Stadacona. The name Canada refers to this settlement (Kanata is an Indian word for village).

The city of Quebec is one of the main destinations in Canada and among the few cities where one gets a sense of history.

The old town is surrounded by solid walls and bastions that have been preserved intact, and the houses within the walls dating from the French period, and some of them also from the period after the English conquest. Inner city is divided into Haute ville, Upper Town and Lower wanted, Lower Town. Upper Town is dominated by the historic Hôtel Frontenac, and here's historic sights such as the Basilica of Notre Dame du Québec, with roots back to the 1600s, and ursulinerklosteret and several museums. In Basse-Ville are the church of Notre Dame des Victoires from 1688, which is considered the oldest church in Canada. A wide variety of restaurants, shops and nightlife caters to the large flow of tourists to the city and to the city's large student population.
